Nursing Student Ride-Along Program

Featured Image for Nursing Student Ride-Along ProgramIn the spring of 2019, Greenport Rescue Squad collaborated with Columbia Greene Community College to establish a ride-along program for nursing students. The ride-along exposes the students to the delivery of patient care in the pre-hospital setting, and the unique challenges that EMS providers face in uncontrolled environments. We hope to increase awareness of the role of EMS in our community while at the same time providing nursing students with a valuable learning experience. Our overall goal is that the program will foster better communication and teamwork between EMS providers and nurses which will enhance the delivery of care, and increase positive outcomes for our patients.
